Since June 2019, Africa works as Global poultry consultant at Vetworks with focus on breeder parent’s management, pathogens control, and biosecurity and health plans.

Personal Info

Africa graduated from Santiago University, Spain in 1996. She completed a master’s in veterinary science in 1997 at the University of Leon while working on a Research Project at the Veterinary Faculty at Santiago University.She started working in 1998 within Aviagen internal operations as a company Veterinarian in the UK and later also abroad including distributors overseas, for 10 years she was overseeing the day-to-day health and biosecurity of pedigree, great grant parents and grandparent.


Over the following 7 years Africa moved to a more specialised role working closely with customers in Europe, Turkey, Middle East and Asia in different facilities ( farms, hatcheries, feed mills, laboratory…) in the control of pathogens, health monitoring, disease prevention, investigation and diagnosis and performance improvements mainly with grandparents, breeders and broilers.

 

In 2015, she moved to Turkey to take the role of Senior Technical Operations Manager in Aviagen Anadolu where she was responsible for the Technical support into the company customer based in the country managing technical input covering all aspects of poultry management with emphasis on analysing what key inputs in the companies, and which would bring the most benefits in the shorter period of time at any levels of poultry production (breeders and broilers farms, hatcheries, feed mill, laboratory,…), an holistic approach to disease management and long-term cost -benefit of the measurements implemented ; disease investigations, bio-security and vaccination audits in farms, hatcheries, feed mills, laboratory… were also an important part of the role.
